Adrienne turns three

Because I am picture crazy, I took Adrienne to get photos done this weekend and ended up buying way too many. Here are a few I liked from the session. She was a giant ham!

Last official day of summer 2008

Labor Day weekend was hot, so we spent time at the "big pool" (Kirkwood) and the "little pool" (backyard) to keep cool. Here's some end-of-summer pool shots from the backyard.

School work

Evan has never been a kid who enjoyed sitting down and coloring/creating things as he is often too busy to stop and sit! Last week, however, he brought home the following two pieces of work. Summer is a girl in his class who is clearly the forbidden fruit. She has mocked his lunch choices and his artwork, and yet...who does he choose to include in his drawing?

When we asked if this was what she was wearing, we heard that yes she had on a pink shirt, but he likes the color purple so he changed her outfit.

Is it just me, or does Evan look a lot like Summer?

Best. Day. Ever.

Monday was the day before school started so I took the day off and Evan and I headed to the City Museum (http://www.citymuseum.org/home.asp). He had been once before with Donna and her Mom, but I hadn't ever been there. I had made up my mind prior to going that we were going to have a great time and that I would do everything that I possibly physically could there. This place makes you get a workout! Climbing, twisting, sliding, exploring, FUN! We had an absolutely wonderful day together, though I am still physically recovering.

This absolutely stopped me in my tracks. It was like a wonderland!

It was early and we had the place to ourselves for a short time. Not long enough!

At the end of the monster slide there are marble 'tubes'. This is what greeted me when I came down the slide.

We headed outside while it was still relatively cool and uncrowded. This was the first big climb.

After always being told to stay in his seat, Evan appreciated being told "climb all over THESE seats!"

Successful where I was not, I failed the climbing test only on this one thing! Sliding down, however, was extremely fun!

When he wasn't aiming balls at other kids' heads, he had a blast. It was hard to get out of the ball pit though, you kept sinking in deeper!

Evan was an incredibly good sport and posed however I asked him to. He didn't get it, but for me this was a huge laugh.

I took this in the dark, but was so happy when I got to see it. I love the two together.

First day of Kindergarten!

Tuesday August 19th was Evan's first day of "big kid school". He's in full day with Mrs. Hardy (who seems nice as can be and very experienced!). He was excited, anxious, and ready to GO already.

He headed in to class, put away his backpack, and trotted off after a quick hug with no looks back. The only one who cried was Adrienne, who was inconsolable once Evan got on the bus. She was the same way today, clearly missing him.

The other day it went from being beautifully sunny to clearly stormy in a short period of time. I took the dog outside, saw the sky, and ran back in for my camera. These clouds were so cool!
